  1. very much enjoyed all read in here.
It may be the case that Obama feels the same way as Zak, but given the control of Israel over american Obama may have to be quiet and bite the bullet for now for fear of being terminated. My wish is, to give the man a chance in office, and if things are the same in 12 months, such as, america still not rowing in behind the UN toward israel, then few could argue where Obama’s loyalty lies

    • Hi Tom,

Yes, there is a tremendous amount of goodwill being extended to Barack Obama, not just in the US – where support for him has reached the point of mass adulation (always a dangerous thing) – but also around the world. After almost a decade of Bush’s failed policies, people are naturally willing Obama to succeed. And it has to be said, to give credit where it is due, that the decisions he has taken in the few days since he was inaugurated – ordering the closure of the Guantanamo detention camp, for example – have been very positive. (It could be argued, of course, that these camps would have to have been closed anyway, regardless of who became president, in view of the “negative PR” and legalistic problems they are causing; but nevertheless, closing them has to be a good thing).
However, the fact remains that Obama has reaffirmed the US’s commitment to Israel’s security, and that in itself is enough to ensure the continuation of the Middle East conflict. And for a man who appears to be intelligent and well-informed, he has made some very ignorant and simplistic statements with regard to the Israel-Palestine problem (for example he has blamed “Hamas terrorists” for the situation in Gaza: this is the same “analysis” we heard repeatedly from George W. Bush). His choice of administration members also leaves a great deal to be desired. His VP has expressed her willingness to “obliterate” Iran in defense of Israel, and his Chief Of Staff is an Arab-hating part-time Israeli soldier.
Obama’s position on the Israel-Palestine situation, and on US foreign policy in general, seems to me to be at odds with his ideas and policies on other issues, which appear to be enlightened. There are a number of glaring inconsistencies. For instance, he campaigned on an anti Iraq war ticket and says he wants to withdraw US troops – but yet he wants to increase the US military presence in Afghanistan. But if anything there is even less justification for the US occupation of Afghanistan than there is for the occupation of Iraq. The flimsy pretext for invading Afghanistan was to find and capture Osama bin Laden (and nothing at all to do with the Caspian oil pipeline); but according to every major intelligence agency – including the CIA – Osama bin Laden fled Afghanistan several years ago. So the US doesn’t even have this nonsensical justification for its continued presence in the country. But instead of pulling US troops out, Obama wants to increase troop levels.

  2. Hi Zak,

Please tell me how to contact you direct. I would like to ask you a question about some of your past work,

    Regards Elaine

    • Hi Elaine,
      Here I am : )
      What’s your question?
      Zak

  3. Hi Zak!
Can I also ask you a question or two? 🙂

I am a norwegian author, and I am in the process of planning a new book, which will mostly be on ESP/quantum perception and its philosophical implications for our world-view. It is not going to be as academic as it may sound – there will be lots of different perspectives: own ESP-experiences, humor, history, anecdotes, scepsis, magic etc.

I liked very much your book: How to develop your ESP. It is the most down-to-earth and rational book on the subject I have come across. When I get a bit more into the writing, would you be willing to discuss a couple issues with me – by blog, mail, phone or whatever?

And: How can I get your other book, Quantum perception? I have not found it available, neither new nor used, on the Internet?

    Regards
    Terje
